Major HTC Announcement Coming on September 21, It’s Probably Getting Acquired by Google
It’s no secret that HTC has been struggling – a LOT. The launch of the HTC U11 and U Ultra earlier this year didn’t seem to make things better for the company either, although the former did see moderate success.
Well, it looks like the only way out of this situation for HTC will be to take the drastic measure of selling its business to Google. Rumours about the acquisition have been flying around for a while now, but recent information that surfaced this week pinpoints that Google is indeed buying HTC.
The Taiwanese company has reportedly suspended trading of its shares ahead of a big announcement scheduled to happen tomorrow on September 20. On top of that reliable leakster @evleaks claims to have received an internal memo which lists the “Google question” on the agenda.

He also hints at the fact that while the entire phone business will go to Google, the HTC brand will not be part of the acquisition.
It’s not the first time Google acquires an Android OEM. A few years back the Alphabet-owned company acquired Motorola for $12.5 billion before selling it to Lenovo.
Google and HTC most recent collaboration will result in the Pixel 2 being unveiled on October 4.
