Official Keyboard Case For The Unannounced HTC Nexus Tablet Rumoured To Be In The Works
We still don’t have official word that HTC is indeed manufacturing the next Nexus tablet but more rumours regarding the mysterious device are continuing to hit the web. Over the weekend, the up and coming leakster @upleaks tweeted about a collection of cases for the HTC T1. These accessories include a Magic Cover Leather (Natural/Black), Magic Cover TPU (Coral Amethyst/Mint Indigo/Lime Stone/ Indigo Black, and a Keyboard Folio. A couple days later, Android Police provided even more information (and a picture) regarding the Keyboard Folio in particular.
As you can see in the photo above, the case will employ a tri-fold design on the one flap that will allow you to prop up the device while the other flap will house the keyboard. The case itself looks like it will connect to the tablet along the edge, likely by some sort of magnets. The keyboard is expected to sport Bluetooth 4.0 and will connect and pair via an embedded NFC chip. One interesting little tid bit is that the case is said to house its own 450 mAh rechargeable battery with the charging port for the case tucked in at the hinge. The embedded battery isn’t likely meant for charging the device but for simply powering the keyboard itself.
Although the picture isn’t the most detailed drawing we’ve seen, it does also give us an idea of the size and shape of the upcoming tablet. As previous rumours have stated, it looks like HTC and Google will employ a less traditional (at least in the Android realm) 4:3 aspect ratio for this iteration. With a shape like an iPad and a Surface like keyboard, it looks like Google (and HTC) really wants to take out the competition with their next offering.
