Google Play Nexus 7 Price Protection

As you all know, as part of Google’s big Nexus announcement a couple of weeks back, Google and Asus dropped the price of the 16GB Nexus 7 as they brought a 32GB model into the fold.  This probably left some of us (including me) letting out a deep sigh saying, “I should have waited.”  Well if you happened to purchase the tablet directly from the Google Play store there could be some money coming back to you.

Google has recently released a Price Protection policy for devices sold on the Google Play Store.  According to the document, phone and tablets will be Price Protected for 15 days.  That simply means that if the price drops at all within 15 days of your purchase you will be entitled to price match the new price.  In addition, it appears that anyone who purchased the Nexus 7  after October 14 will also be able to price match with the new Nexus 7 pricing.

So if that’s you, head over to the link and see if you can’t get a few dollars back.  I bought mine at Staples so it doesn’t look like I’m entitled.  I’ve also been reading some mixed things about this refund with some sites stating the it was for specific countries.  However, I did not see any such restrictions on their official site so I’m not positive about this.  So if bought from the Play Store you may as well give it a try.
