Is Google Teasing The New Nexus Tablet In This Render?
Google normally showcases their latest and greatest tablet at I/O but this time around we were given absolutely nothing… or so it seems. Over on Google’s website you will find the above picture in the “Principles” section under the “Layout” tab. The render shows off three devices, a phone, a tablet and a Chromebook. The Chromebook appears to be the Pixel and the phone looks like a Nexus 5 but what is that tablet in the middle? Sure doesn’t look like a Nexus 7 to me, so what is it?
Well, there has been rumour all year that HTC would be making the next Nexus tablet and earlier this week another rumour surfaced stating that it would be a 9″ slate. This display definitely looks larger than the Nexus 7′s and could definitely be 9″. That latest rumour also stated that the new Nexus would have front facing speakers and as you can see, this device has at least one (the other end is unfortunately hidden). The rumour also stated that the new slate would have a 4:3 screen ratio and this device definitely has that as well.
While we can’t conclusively say that this is the new Nexus tablet, all signs seem to point that way. Plus, Google has always liked to throw us little subtle teasers so this could definitely be another one of those.
