Rumour: LG Working On Always On Voice Command System

LG-Android

In the Android world, if you’re not innovating, you’re likely not going to succeed.  New and innovative feature always help to push products out the door as is evident with the Galaxy S4 and its ridiculous amount of “features.”  LG may also have a pretty killer new feature on their hands if rumours are to be believed.

According to a new rumour, LG is working on an Always On voice command system similar to what is available on the upcoming Xbox One.  The functionality will be beyond current voice command systems and since it’s always on, it will offer some true to life hands free functionality.  The one example given by Gotta Be Mobile is that you’d be able to have your Google Maps pan in and out or change view all by your the sound of your voice.

What makes this rumour seem more feasible is the fact that Qualcomm has announced that their Snapdragon 800 processor will support always on voice support.  This voice support is also supposed to be able to distinguish voices so that other people aren’t accidentally (or purposefully) making your phone do things you don’t want it to do.  Battery life is also supposed to be minimally affected by this new feature according to Qualcomm.

This would definitely be a killer feature to have on your phone and would really push LG up the ladder if they release and market it well enough.

What do you guys think about this?  Is this something you want on your next phone?
