You May Have To Wait A Little Longer To Get Your S4

S IV Shortage

Samsung’s Galaxy S IV is going to sell millions.  There’s really no question about that.  Samsung knew their new flagship would be in high demand so they’ve been cranking up production as much as possible.  In fact, the high demand is one of the main reasons that they opted to use two different chip sets once again for the S IV.  They knew they’d have a hard time creating enough of their home made Octo-Core chips for the phone so they reached out to Qualcomm for their Snapdragon 600 chips to help alleviate some of the demand strain.

However, it looks like the demand is still exceeding the pace in which Samsung is able to manufacture these devices.  Over the past week I’ve been reading again and again that the US carriers would be delayed in their launch.  And according to an e-mail from Samsung Canada to MobileSyrup, we’ll be facing a similar fate here.

“Due to overwhelming global demand of Samsung GALAXY S4, the initial supply may be limited. We expect to fulfill inventory to meet demands in the coming weeks.”

While it doesn’t seem like the launch will be delayed, it does appear that the launch will be very limited.  Some carriers, like Telus, have already reached out to customers to offer a credit for their patience.  Pre-orders should hopefully begin shipping tomorrow but there’s a very good chance that you may be waiting longer than you expected to get yours in the mail or in store.  Looks like the expected May 3rd launch date could be one crazy day for us retail folk.
