Upcoming Galaxy S7 Series Will Be Water Resistant, Have Larger Batteries

We’re still a few months away from a potential Samsung event, however leaks for the device are becoming more and more accurate.

Even Blass (known as Evleaks) shared updated details of Samsung’s upcoming Galaxy S7 and S7 Edge flagship smartphone.

The screen size was incorrectly stated as 5.2-inches earlier but that now been corrected to 5.1-inches, retaining the same exact screen size as last year’s Galaxy S6. The display itself will still sport a QHD Super AMOLED panel, but with an “Always-On Display” feature allowing the phone to consume only 1% battery per hour while remaining on. The SoC is going to be the Snapdragon 820 or the Exynos 8890 depending on the region and both sub-variants will include 4GB of RAM.

As for the batteries, they’ll still be non-removable but both phones will receive a sizable increase to the battery capacity to 3000mAh for the Galaxy S7 and 3600mAh for its Edge variant.

Other details revealed include a 12MP rear camera module (down from 16MP from the Galaxy S6) which will sit flush with the device and an IP67 water resistant rating. It’s not clear if this would bring back the annoying flaps required for water resistance or if they take a similar approach to what Sony did with their Xperia Z5 series.
