Towelroot Brings Root To Almost Any Android Device
For those of you that have ever jailbroken an iOS device, the name “Geohot” should come to mind. Known for this popular jailbreak tool known as limera1n and for hacking the PS3, Geohot is back in the game, and this time it’s for Android.
In order to root an Android device (gain full access to the system), you would first have to unlock your bootloader and when performed, it would wipe all user data automatically. Then you would have to install an app that manages root (superuser) requests to the system.
Now, you can avoid all that work with Geohot’s new towelroot application. Just download the app from the site, install, run and reboot. That’s it! This even works on Galaxy S5′s with a carrier that permanently locks bootloaders, using a Linux kernel exploit embedded into the app. I’ve tried it myself on a stock Nexus 5, 7 and Galaxy S3 and it works fine.
It’s worth noting that this does void your warranty so if you’re interested, continue on your own risk. You can grab it in the source link below.
