Huawei Already Testing Android O on the Mate9 Phablet
Huawei might not be the fastest OEM when it comes to software updates, but the company appears to be taking steps towards becoming a swift provider of updates.
A XDA senior member unearthed a ROM which seems to suggest that Huawei has started testing the yet to be released version of Android on its Mate9 phablet. It appears the Chinese company is trying to optimize its EMUI interface to meet the requirements of the new OS.
Still this is an experimental build which lacks some of Android’s major features like the ability to run the Google Play Store (unless your well-versed in all maters Android and you’ll able to sideload Google Play Services upon installing the test build).
It seems like Huawei also added a bunch of new files app and developer options. At the moment things look promising enough for us to hope that when Android O starts rolling out to the masses, Huawei might be among the first OEMs to push the new update to the Mate9 and hopefully other premium models too like the recently release P10 and P10 Plus.
The Android O Developer Preview is currently available for testing for owners of Pixel and Nexus phones. The public version will probably be launched in a few months
