Galaxy Note & Galaxy S II to Get ICS By The End of March
I heard rumours that the Galaxy S II & Galaxy Note were suppose be getting an update to Ice Cream Sandwich 4.0 on March 10th. After the announcement, it was immediately yanked from Samsung’s site. It turns out those rumours were just another case of someone jumping the gun, which is a reminder why I dont follow rumours too much on Android in Canada. More times than not, they always lead to misinformation and upset excited readers.
Samsung said months ago back when the Galaxy Nexus and the newly released ICS was the talk of the internet, that the Galaxy Note and S II would be getting ICS within the first quarter of 2024. If we carry their words close to our hearts, we should be able to place our trust that we will see ICS officially released by the end of March. Sadly this isn’t the end of the waiting game for many users though.
For the Unrooted Android users, this means you could and most likely will still be stuck at the mercy of your carrier before you will see the update. Our large carriers are known for dragging their feet on OS updates, allowing themselves months to load it up with carrier bloatware and carrier specific customizations. So realistically if you rely on your carrier for updates, you probably won’t see yours until the fall. More reason to look in to rooting, right?
