Google Quietly Releases Android 4.4.4
For all of you Nexus users, get your update fingers ready because you’re in for a treat (albeit small).
After only two weeks of Android 4.4.3, Google decided to release yet another bugfix update for KitKat earlier today which bumps the version number to 4.4.4. While there’s not a single UI change, it did come with a newer baseband for the Nexus 5 and a patch for a OpenSSL vulnerability (which the guys from CyanogenMod have already included the patch into their latest builds).
As for the Towelroot exploit, this update still hasn’t fixed the vulnerability yet so you can still easily root your device without breaking a sweat. The only OTA available, as of writing this article, is for the Nexus 5 so if you own a Nexus 4, 7 and 10, your best bet is to just wait or flash the factory images in the source link below (but do note that the factory image will erase all data).
