ASUS’ newest flagship smartphone, the ZenFone 2, has been on sale for quite some time in other countries, and after holding its North American event today in NYC, the company is finally bringing the phone to Canada and the US.
The phone starts at only $249 CAD and its higher end variant is the world’s first smartphone with 4GB of RAM, which comes at a higher but very competitive $379. Specs for both are similar in terms of the screen size, battery and SD Card expansion, where the cheaper model comes with a 1.8 GHz Intel Atom Silvermont SoC, 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage instead of a 2.3 GHz Intel Atom Silvermont SoC and the world famous 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage.
ASUS will sell the phones factory unlocked through well known Canadian retail stores NCIX, Memory Express and Newegg starting from tomorrow.
Specs for the phone in detail are as follows: 5.5-inch 1080p display, 1.8/2.3 GHz Intel Atom Silvermonth Z3560/Z3580 SoC, 2GB/4GB of RAM, 16GB/64GB of internal storage, 13MP rear and 5MP front cameras with dual LED flash. There’s also a 3000 mAh battery which can charge up to 60% in 39 minutes all running Android 5.0 Lollipop + ZenUI.
The phone can run on all Canadian carriers, including Wind Mobile.
