Android 7.0 and 7.1 Nougat Is Now Installed on 5% of All Android Devices
It was 7 months ago when Android Nougat was made available to the general public. And according to Google’s latest platform distribution numbers, Android 7.0+Android 7.1 runs on almost 5% of all Android devices currently in circulation.
Despite an 2.1% increase compared to last month, Android Nougat runs on an awfully small number of smartphones and tablets. Android 7.0 Nougat is installed on 4.5% of devices, while Android 7.1 Nougat lives on merely 0.4%.
By far the most, popular Android version is Android Marshmallow 6.0 which at the moment powers 31.2% of models. Up next, we have Android 5.1 Lollipop with 23% and Android 4.4 KitKat with 20%. It’s also worth mentioning, it’s the first time in Android’s history, the number of devices running Marshmallow decreased.
While the numbers are low, Nougat still managed to outperformed Marshmallow’s rollout which hit 4.6% this time last year. Hopefully, Nougat numbers will keep growing, since Android O’s release is not too far from us.
A few days ago Google started rolling out the Android 7.1.2 Nougat which is currently available for Pixel and Nexus devices. But these phones only make an extremely small part of the Android ecosystem.
