Android 4.4.1 Begins To Roll Out To Nexus 5s, Nexus 4s, and Nexus 7s
Just yesterday we shared with you that Google was readying the rollout for Android 4.4.1 KitKat. Well it appears that they are ready as Nexus 5, Nexus 4, and Nexus 7 users have begun to receive the update today. From what Google has said, the update will bring a lot of camera improvements to the Nexus 5 specifically but other devices will likely benefit from minor bug fixes and the like.
Again, the update may take some time before it makes it to all devices. Google purposefully rolls things out slowly to begin with in order to catch any minor bugs that they may have missed. If you absolutely must have the update immediately, there are ways to sideload the update via ADB commands. However, if you’re not familiar with that I would not recommend doing it unless you do some thorough reading on the process. It’s not necessarily difficult, per se, but it’s definitely a do at your own risk kind of thing and we are not responsible if you brick your device!
