New Swype beta for ICS
It’s here! The lovely keyboard that really set itself apart from the pack, Swype, is now available for ICS phones.
This is the first chance I’ve gotten to play with a new version of Swype in a long time. My old Captivate came with Swype originally pre-installed, so I never got to try any of the newer builds out.
And, wow, has there been some changes. Definitely snappier, and the nice contrast on the keys with the bright orange trail doesn’t leave you guessing anymore. Everything else seems to be under the hood fixes as most of the options are still the same as always.
It’s included a new “Swype Connect” a sort of ‘inbox’ between you and Swype’s servers to check on your version etc… and it also includes the options for ‘add-ons’, primarily the new Dragon Go! speech recognition software.
That seemed to work out ok, nothing fantastic or earth shattering. But I still like Swype and will play with this, for the time being it’s making me forget about SwiftKey!
