Program The HTC Logo On The HTC One As A Menu Button

The HTC One launched a couple of days ago and I’ve had the pleasure of playing around with one (pun definitely intended) for a week and a half.  One thing that I noticed on the phone immediately was that there were only two capacitive buttons, “Home” and “Back.”  Having never seen a phone with just two buttons before I tried pressing the “HTC” logo between the two buttons thinking that maybe it would open up the recently used tasks or maybe Google Now.  Turns out it doesn’t do anything at all.  Well, at least that’s what I thought.

Some crafty little developers have discovered that the HTC logo just beneath the screen can actually be programmed to act as an additional capacitive button.  They came across this trick after discovering that the HTC logo had a place for touch logs, it just wasn’t programmed.  So after some rooting, unlocking, etc. they worked out a way to program that HTC logo to act as a “Menu” button.

Now I would not recommend giving this a try unless you’re very comfortable with the rooting process on phone AND you’re okay with voiding your warranty on your brand new device.  We take no responsibility for any problems and potential bricks that you may come across!  If you do give it a try, let us know how it turns out!
