Google I/O is tomorrow… I’m all tingly.
yeah, it’s not the biggest Android conference, but who knows what they’ll pull out at this event tomorrow.
I’m not sure I can get out of work to watch the event streamed… but I’m thinking of hooking up a separate monitor in the office to do just that.
Yesterday we heard all about the new Google TV box from Sony. Not only is it just a new box, but it’s the first time we’re seeing support in Canada. I am so stoked about that. And we may hear even more about what Google TV can do as well. Despite what that Gawker media group think about Android and their ever disdain for it. Things are getting awesomer!
It’s the crack in the seemingly unpenetrable wall that Canada has been for Google services. Who knows what can start to tumble after GTV is allowed in… maybe I/O will shed some light. Voice anyone? Wallet? Real ‘MUSIC’ (and not just the half jigged version we’ve shown you how to do).
What else can we expect? Well, there’s the rumoured Nexus tablet, which is pretty much all but a reality now with all the leaks and renders and specs (see next article). We’ve heard about JellyBean on the Galaxy Nexus, and that it will be 4.1.
There’s plenty of other rumours out there, and some of my favourite blogs are setting their bets out.
Here’s some of what I’ve seen in the rumour mill:
- Majel – Android’s answer to Siri
- Google/Android powered home appliance/electrical items (lights, thermostats, etc…)
- Re-vamped Google Maps (as we saw recently)
- Play store Change
- Project Glass
- Better Google Docs/Drive integration
- Merging / integrating Chrome OS
- Change of the Nexus program
