Android 7.1.2 Download Out, Google Details What’s New

Good news owners of Pixel and Nexus phones, the Android Nougat 7.1.2 update is currently available in the form of factory images and downloadable OTAs from Google. The automatic OTA updates will soon follow in the upcoming days, hitting some devices sooner and others a bit later.

Google has detailed the new features you can expect to see after you have installed the new build. On the Google Product Forums, a Pixel Community Manager says the Android 7.1.2 update will be rolling out over the next few weeks for Pixel and Pixel XL devices. So unless you want to manually flash the factory images yourself, have a bit of patience. Here’s the change log for the Pixel and Pixel XL:

  • Improved fingerprint swipe performance
  • Bluetooth connectivity improvements
  • Battery usage alerts
  • Fixes for early shutdown issues, pink banding on the camera and audio popping issue at high volume

Pixel owners, take into consideration that the April security patch is now available via Rogers and will bestow VoLTE capabilities on your device.

The update is a little different for the Nexus 5X, Nexus 6P, Pixel C and Nexus Player. As for the Nexus 6 and Nexus 9 they have reached their end of life and will remain to Android 7.1.1 Nougat. Here’s the changelog for the remaining Nexus and Pixel devices:
