Purported Unlocked Samsung Galaxy S8 Active Gets Certified by Wi-Fi Alliance
If you are Samsung fan, then you probably hate the fact that the company’s Active lineup has been an AT&T exclusive for the past 3 years. That means only customers in the US have been able to grab the rugged device, which comes with a larger battery than that of the standard model.
But soon Samsung might change the rules of the game. You see the Wi-Fi Alliance recently certified a mysterious Samsung phone listed as model number SM-G892U. Given that the Samsung Galaxy S8 Active bears the strikingly similar SM-G892A model number, it can be assumed we’re looking at the global variant of the Galaxy S8 Active here.
After all, Samsung did mention at launch that the Galaxy S8 Active won’t remain an AT&T exclusive for long. Sadly the listing does not provide more information on this model, so all we can do is sit and wait.
While the Galaxy S8 Active is nearly identical to the Galaxy S8 it does offer some extra perks. For starts is not as fragile as the standard version, but to some eyes, it might not be as beautiful either. However, a major drawing point for the Galaxy S8 Active is the 4,000 mAh battery which replaces the meager 3,000 mAh juice box inside the Galaxy S8.
