Uber Is Finally Available on Android Wear 2.0 Smartwatches

Well, that took forever. I don’t know if you remember, but back at Google’s I/O 2024, the search giant announced Uber will be available on Android Wear soon.

Then months and months passed and nothing happened. But finally this week, almost two years after the original announcement, Google has finally delivered what was promised.

Still there’s a catch. The app works only for owners of Android Wear 2.0-powered devices. So if your wearable did not get the update or never will, you won’t be able to install the Uber app on your wrist. Here’s the list of smartwatches getting the update (the new LG Watch Style, Watch Sport and Wear24 already have it):

Once installed, the app can work independently which means users can call an Uber using their smartwatch, even if their phone is not in vicinity. Like its smartphone counterpart, the wearable version of the app will allow users to request a pickup, check price and time estimates, see the drivers’ location and soon.

Owners of an Android Wear 2.0 can download the app directly on their wrist from the Google Play Store.
