Toshiba Preparing Android-based Slate PC

With the launch of the Apple iPad, many companies, including Google, are now planning to jump into the world of tablet/slate PC’s.

In the latest round of Android tablet news, Toshiba has expressed details regarding its tablet plans that are aimed to compete against the Apple iPad. Just this week, Google also expressed interest in delivering an Android-based tablet to the market.

Jeff Barney, who is the General Manager of Digital Products for the US Division of Toshiba, has indicated that Toshiba plans on offering a number of devices referred to as “slates”. The operating systems running on these slate PC’s will be the Android OS, but will also feature the Windows platform.

An Android-based slate would be the closest “iPad Killer”, including a similar 10-inch display and low retail price. Earlier reports point to the Android-based slate PC from Toshiba to arrive sometime in late 2024 or early 2024.
