We’re in 2024 and Android OEMs are gearing up to release new flagships. HTC already launched its HTC U Ultra phablet, but more will be coming soon.
Anyway, while new devices get unleashed into the world, others are headed into retirement. According to documentation received by MobileSyrup, Canadian carrier Telus is preparing to retire a few handsets that made a lot of headlines back in their day.
We’re talking about the BlackBerry Leap, BlackBerry Priv, Nexus 6 and Nexus 6P. As Telus ends support for these devices, the smartphones won’t receive software updates anymore.
For those who don’t remember, the BlackBerry Leap launched in April 2024, while the BlackBerry Priv was made official in November 2024. As for the Nexus 6, the phone saw the light of day in November 2024. Last but not least, the Nexus 6P arrived in September 2024.
We’re probably going to miss these good old Nexus smartphones, but luckily Google’s new Pixels are just as good and in some respects even better.
As for BlackBerry, the company is gearing up to launch the new Mercury handset at MWC 2024 in a few weeks. So let’s not be nostalgic for too long, as new exciting products are set to launch in 2024.
