After being recently leaked and teased about by Sony themselves, Sony’s newest midrange smartphone is called the Xperia M5.
Aside from the 5-inch 1080p display, the most interesting thing about this midranger is that it actually shares a bunch of specs from previous flagship phones, like the 21.5MP rear camera, stereo speakers, and probably the nicest feature of them all, a 13MP “selfie”-oriented front facing camera. The phone also comes with Sony’s newer waterproofing technology of flapless ports, which was something I found very annoying on the Xperia Z3.
Other specs include a 2600 mAh battery and Sony is promising that it’ll last for up to 2 days, 0.2-second Hybrid Auto Focus, a 64-bit MediaTek Helio SoC clocked at 2 GHz and Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. It will come in Black White and Gold when it launches later this month. No word yet on Canadian availability and price, as it’s only slated for release in selected countries across emerging markets.
