Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Almost Here For Rogers

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is an Android device that has been talked about since early January 2024 (maybe even earlier). At that time, Rogers had indicated that the device would be available sometime in the second quarter of 2024, which translates to April, May, or June. While waiting, prospective Xperia X10 owners were given this Rogers page to work with where users could sign up for updates.

Shortly afterward, some of the technical specifications for the Rogers Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 were made available. You can check those out below:

The specs sound decent, everything right up to the last point being Android 1.6. After seeing that, almost everyone turned their heads from the Xperia X10. However, Sony Ericsson came in to save the day and indicated that even though the Xperia X10 will launch with Android 1.6, it will be upgradable:

What I hope to get across to you all, is that there will be a software update for Xperia X10 that will upgrade the complete Sony Ericsson User Experience Platform based on newer version of the Android OS.

What is not clear is what this upgrade is exactly. Since Android is currently sitting on OS 2.1, I would hope that the 1.6 shipping OS will be upgradable almost immediately to 2.1, but with Rogers being the Xperia X10 carrier, I wouldn’t hold my breath.

Fast-forwarding to the end of March 2024, Rogers customers who opted to receive news regarding the Xperia X10 received an email that said:

The Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 is almost here – exclusively from Rogers… PLUS! Stay tuned for additional info on an exclusive Xperia X10 pre-order

So the Xperia X10 is no longer “coming soon” as it was previously, but has now moved to “almost here”. Prospective Xperia X10 owners were then given a new pre-order site to play on.

If we back up to the original Rogers information regarding the Xperia X10, it would seem that a release date will most definitely be April 2024 and not May or June. Early pricing for the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 puts the device at $599.99 outright and $149.99 on a 3-year agreement.

So, does the Xperia X10 sounds like your next Android device?
