Samsung has finally announced today that the Galaxy S5 and Gear 2 will be arriving on Canadian soil on April 11th. This is the same date that was said for other countries during MWC and it’s good to know Canada is included.
Detailed pricing information is unknown but Samsung has said the phone will retail for $229 on “select plans” at their Experience Stores in both Vancouver and Edmonton. Eleven carriers are expected to be selling the phone but no indication of any exclusivity on a colour but we do know the Galaxy S5 is coming in Charcoal Black and Shimmery White versions.
According to MobileSyrup, they have received information that Rogers will be releasing the phone for $249 on a 2-year plan alongside the Gear 2 Neo (exclusive to Rogers), Fit for $219.99 and Gear 2 for $329.99
The specs for the North American Galaxy S5 include a 5.1-inch 1080p Super AMOLED display, 2.5 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with an Adreno 330 GPU, 2 GB of RAM, 16/32GB of storage with SD Card expansion and a 2800 mAh battery. The phone also comes with an IP67 rating which allows it to be dust and water resistant alongside a fingerprint reader and heart rate sensor.
