Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 Mentioned In Chromium Code
If you recall from March, reports indicated Google’s plans to release an 8.9-inch “Nexus 8” tablet for the summer. Now with Google I/O creeping up next month and no leaks proving its existance, many might be doubting whether or not the Nexus 7 and Nexus 10 will be killed for a device with a size that’s just right. But nothing about Google’s next flagship Nexus smartphone, until now.
According to Florian Kiersch from Google+, he spotted references to the Nexus 6 and Nexus 8 in Chromium Review Code. Not too sure about the Nexus 6, but the Nexus 8 name seems too convincing for me to let go. Android Police looked at the AOSP changelog for Android 4.4.3 last week (now taken down) and the have confirmed a device made by HTC by the name of flounder, which does sound like it’s going to be the Nexus 8.
It’s still quite too early to tell anything about the Nexus 6, but the Nexus 8 looks like it’s going to be a thing at Google I/O starting June 25th.
