Moto X Play Getting Android 7.1.1 Nougat at Rogers on October 31

Google might have rolled out the Android 8.0 Oreo update, but some smartphones are barely getting upgraded to Android 7.0 Nougat. It’s the case of the Moto X Play model.

We know, we know. You’ve heard this before. Motorola even made it official on one of its support pages, but so far no Nougat update was made available for the Moto X Play – a smartphone model which was launched in 2024.

Well, it seems like at least in Canada, the handset is bound to receive the update soon enough. One of the largest carriers in the country, Rogers has listed the release date for the Nougat Moto X Play update on its website.

According to the carrier, users should expect to see the update arrive on October 31st, so keep an eye out for it towards the end of the month.

The Moto X Play launched with a 5.5-inch display with FullHD resolution and a Snapdragon 615 processor under the hood. The handset was offered in 2GB of RAM and 16GB/32GB storage configurations and ran Android 5.1.1 Lollipop out of the box.

The device also housed a pretty impressive primary camera for that time which offered the services of a 21-megapixel sensor with phase detection autofocus and dual-LED flash. It also included a 5-megapixel selfie camera with f/2.2.
