LG G6 Update Improves Battery and Video Playback Performance

The LG G6 is scheduled to officially launch in Canada on April 7, but a lucky few have already managed to get their hands on the device ahead of schedule. Well before the G6 goes official in the country, LG has sent out a software update which resolves a certain battery drainage bug.

Since the update doesn’t show up on the LG Canada page, we can only assume it was meant as a pre-release update. While the new firmware (H87310b) reportedly improves battery performance, it also enhances video playback quality.

The LG G6 is the Korean’s company latest flagship that went official at MWC 2024. The phone comes with a 5.7-inch display with 2,880 x 1,440 resolution and 78.6% screen-to-body ratio. It comes bundling a Snapdragon 821 chipset and 4GB of RAM and either 32GB or 64GB of internal storage.

The phone takes advantage of a dual camera setup consisting of two 13MP sensors plus a 5MP selfie snapper. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box and will probably get updated to Android 7.1.2 at some point – which is currently available for Google’s own slew of Pixel and Nexus devices. The device is waterproof and relies on a non-removable 3,300 mAh battery.
