[UPDATE: no] GOOGLE MUSIC COMING TO CANADA NOV 13
[UPDATE: Looks like it was an error on the part of Google’s team, and Canada is not in the roll out]
I did that in all caps for a reason. I’m pretty stoked!
I remember back when they announced Google Music… this blog was all a flutter for invites and tricks on how to get it working for us Canucks. Probably still my most viewed article of all time.
Well, it looks like that wait might be over as we’re going to get Music… in Canada. November 13th.
Awesome.
Sure, it’s just another service, and sure we had ways to make it work before… but here’s 2 things
- it means that more people can have proper access to it. Often I’d recommend friends to get this – but they wouldn’t because they didn’t like to ‘hack’. So it seemed like more effort. Well, now they can get it easily and really see how awesome a service it is.
- it’s opening the gateway to more Google services. Remember when we got books, then we got movies, then we just got movies we can buy (not just rent). Slowly, bit by bit, we’re able to get more Google Services launched in Canada. Whether the Canadian gov’t is starting to relax, or what… it means that there’s not much stopping it now when we want other services. For example… the holy grail that is “GOOGLE VOICE”. Oh frabjulous day that we can have that service.
And yes, it means we can also support more Canadian artists and ensuring that our money spent on music stays with our Canadians and with our friends Google. I much prefer to have everything all in one ecosystem than spread it about.
What’s the first song/album you’ll buy?
