Samsung Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab 10.1 official

Samsung officially unveiled the Galaxy S II and Galaxy Tab 10.1 at MWC today. There isn’t much we didn’t previously know thanks to all the leaks but let’s review.

Galaxy S II: Gingerbread with TouchWiz 4.0, 4.27-inch 800 x 480 Super AMOLED Plus display, Dual-core 1GHz Samsung chip and 1GB of RAM, 8MP rear camera with 1080p video capture as well as a 2MP front camera and NFC support. Likely the thinnest smartphone on the planet measuring 8.49mm thick. Four “Hubs” for e-books and games, social networking and music from Samsung are also present on this device. Samsung is also working with Sybase and Cisco to make the Galaxy S II an enterprise-friendly Android handset.

Galaxy Tab 10.1: This tablet is obviously named after its 10.1″ screen size and runs stock Android 3.0 Honeycomb on a 1280 x 800-resolution 10.1-inch TFT display. Sports a dual-core Tegra 2 processor with an 8MP rear camera that can take 1080p video and a front-facing 2MP camera. Available with 16GB or 32GB of storage. Weights only 1.23 pounds and is0.4-inches thick. No HDMI ports to be found here.

Availability: We’ve been told that both devices should start shipping in Europe by next month. The stock international Galaxy S II supports Rogers/Bell/Telus HSPA+ frequencies which is good news. No word on North American availability just yet, though it should only be a matter of time.
