Google Confirms Android Pay is Coming to Canada Soon

Back in December 2024, we told you Android Pay became available for some users in Canada, though unofficially.

At that time Google send out a statement saying it’s exciting to bring Android Pay to Canada, but the service was not currently available.

Fast forward six months later and we have some good news for you. During a breakout session at Google I/O 2024 titled “Powering Commerce Online and In-Store with Google Payments”  Google confirmed Android Pay will go live in Canada in the coming months.

We don’t know whether this means soon or towards the end of the year, but at least we can tell you Android Pay will make a debut in Canada in 2024.

Google’s Consumer Payments team is continuously working to expand the availability of the service. Case in point, in the upcoming months Android Pay will be offered in Brazil, Canada, Russia, Spain and Taiwan.

Android Pay is currently available in 10 markets globally which include US, UK, Australia, Hong Kong, Poland, New Zealand, Ireland, Japan and Belgium.

As part of its ongoing I/O 2024, Google also announced Android Pay now supports PayPal, so users can use PayPal as payment method within Android Pay. The feature will become available soon.
