Google Introduces Android O Developer Preview
Android fans all over the world rejoice! Google has just announced the Android O Developer Preview.
The build, destined for developers is available for download and installation for owners of the Google Pixel, Pixel XL, Nexus 6P, and Nexus 5 X, Nexus Player and Pixel C tablet. However be advised that the Android O Developer Preview is not meant for public use. As any developer software, this preview is most likely riddled with bugs and issues. So if you want to install it on your device, we suggest you proceed with caution.
Instability issues aside, you’re probably quite curious to learn what new features you can expect to see in Android O. Here are the most exciting to look forward to:
- Revamped notifications – Android O introduces notification channels, so users will be allowed to change their behavior individually, rather than managing the app’s notifications together.
- App background limits – in order to save battery, Google has imposed extra automatic limits on what an app can do in the background.
- Picture-in-picture display – new feature which enables users to watch a video while using an app in another window.
- Adaptive icons – Android O brings icons that can change shape based on the device.
- Wide-gamut color for apps
- Support for high-quality Bluetooth audio codecs
- Autofill APIs – Android O adds an API that allows for secure automatic saving of sensitive data such as user names, passwords, addresses.
So what do you think? Does Android O sound good so far?
