One of the main reasons why Samsung decided to release a 2nd generation Galaxy Gear watch was due to battery life and performance issues found on the original, as reported by several early adopters. Now it seems folks still owning the watches are in for a treat.
We know Samsung has officially ditched Android on the wearable side for now, as they are proudly opting for Tizen; another open source Linux-based operating system that Samsung has helped develop from the ground up.
Tizen was first introduced with the Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches and is now available as an update which you can install by either flashing it manually or by downloading it through Kies. The update itself is noted to wipe all user data so be sure to back up any important information before updating but other than that, it brings a bit new apps and obviously the battery and performance increase.
