Now that BlackBerry has officially launched its first Android smartphone, it’s now time to talk about updates. And by updates, I specifically mean Marshmallow.
The phone itself runs a nearly-stock build of Android 5.1.1 Lollipop so it shouldn’t take long until the Marshmallow update hits. According to an interview with BlackBerry executives by Android Central, the Priv is expected to receive Android 6.0 Marshmallow “sometime in the new year”. While this timeframe is quite vague, it’s still good that the update has been confirmed.
Furthermore, they’ve also stated that the Priv will continue to receive security updates which also includes Google’s monthly Android security updates.
