Android O Will Let Users Pause System Updates

Every time a major new update is released, carriers and OEMs alike advise users to have their phone’s battery sufficiently charged, as well as to make sure they are on a stable Wi-Fi connection.

The reason for these precautions is this – once an update download is initiated it can’t be stopped. So in order to ensure the update is properly installed on your device, users need have a proper connection available and a full battery that can support the installation process until the end.

But as it turns out in the next version of Android (O) this won’t be a problem anymore. According to Android Police who discovered the feature, Google has embedded a handy new option in Android O which allows users to pause the download of an update.

So in case you lose signal or you realize you forgot your charger at home after the download has been initiated, you’ll be able to pause and then resume the system update once you find yourself in a better predicament.

The new feature will be available with small and large updates and according to Google it’s part of the Play Services update.

Do you think this feature will be of help to you?
