Android L’s Keyboard Available For Download As Standalone App
With all the new changes Android L brings to the Nexus 5 and Nexus 7 (2024), the most prominent and “fresh” looking change would probably be the keyboard. The keyboard brings Material Design to your fingertips. Literally. But then again, it’s only available on Android L, right? Well, not anymore.
Just released on the Play Store, the Android L keyboard is now available for anyone to install, only if the device is running at least Android 4.0 (ICS). Previous methods required root, but this app works completely fine for you non-rooted users.
All you have to do to enable the theme once installed is to go into settings (“/” -> Settings), Keyboard, Advanced settings and lastly, Color scheme. Pick Material from the dialog box and you’re done!
Android L is currently available as a Developer Preview, and I can tell you that this is not ready for everyday use and the actual release is slated for Fall. To try the keyboard out for yourself, hit the source link down below.
