It’s now a week into September and Google has finally updated their Android Distribution numbers accordingly. For those unfamiliar, these numbers are updated at roughly the start of every month for developers to look at so they can generalize what version of Android their potential install base is running and act upon it.
As of September 9, KitKat continues to increase in marketshare and has jumped 3.6% from August to sit at 24.5%. Jelly Bean as a whole, which still remains to be the most dominent, decreased slightly by 0.4%. Gingerbread and Froyo are still hanging around and are at 11.4% and 0.7% respectively.
With Android L eyeing a possible release next month, it’s safe to say it won’t affect the distribution by much.
