Android Distribution Numbers Out For October, Lollipop Now At 23.5%

android_dist_octt2024
After releasing the Android 6.0 factory images yesterday, Google has just posted their Android Distribution numbers for October. For those unfamiliar with this monthly occurrence, these numbers are updated by Google at roughly the start of every month for developers to look at so they can generalize what version of Android their potential install base is running and act upon it.

Interestingly enough, Android 5.0 actually dropped by 0.3% to 15.6% while Android 5.1 gained 2.8%. Lollipop as a whole is now at 23.5%. This could be a result of some OEMs releasing Android 5.1 OTA updates. As for KitKat, it drops again to 38.9% while Jelly Bean collectively drops by 1.6% to 30.2%.

I’ve actually lost count on how many times Froyo has shown up as 0.2% and this month is no exception, while Gingerbread and ICS continue their slow death.
