It’s now March and Google has conveniently updated their Android Distribution numbers accordingly. For those still unfamiliar, these numbers are updated by Google at roughly the start of every month for developers to look at so they can generalize what version of Android their potential install base is running and act upon it.
It was only last month when Lollipop made its debut to the chart at 1.6%. As of today March 2nd, it has more than doubled its presence to sit at 3.3% thanks to the recent boom in Lollipop OTAs from LG, HTC and Motorola. KitKat still manages to gain 1.2% at 40.9% and Jelly Bean as a whole decreases by 1.9%. ICS and Gingerbread continue their uneventful decline while Froyo, for the 3rd straight month in a row, manages to somehow stay afloat at 0.4%.
Sony and Samsung are still in the process of delivering their promised Lollipop OTAs so hopefully all of that happens this month.
