It’s now the first month of the year and Google has conveniently updated their Android Distribution numbers accordingly. For those still unfamiliar, these numbers are updated by Google at roughly the start of every month for developers to look at so they can generalize what version of Android their potential install base is running and act upon it.
As of today, Android 5.0 Lollipop is still missing on the chart which unfortunately means it still currently holds a share under 0.1%. KitKat however, sees yet another significant gain to sit at 39.1 %, up 3.7% from December. Jelly Bean has seen another decline and it now sits at 46% as a whole, down 2.7%. Gingerbread continues to die a slow death at 6.7% and Froyo hangs on at 0.4%.
Here’s hoping Lollipop hopefully appears on the charts next month, as HTC and Sony are to release Lollipop for their devices in February.
