Android 5.0 Lollipop was the biggest overhaul to Android since Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich, and it brought a totally new design paradigm as well as a very noticeable memory leak to Nexus 5’s running the build. Earlier rumours mentioned the fix would be coming in the next Maintenance Release, but unfortunately, it’s still present on Android 5.1.
Many users took to the AOSP issue tracker to share their newest findings of the new OS version, which of course consisted of discussions on the memory leak with a few reporting usage of the Settings app to exceed 100MB.
However, there’s some good news. The fix has been acknowledged and fixed in internal Android builds according to the AOSP issue tracker’s project member, and hopefully it’s the last time we ever see this bug again.
