May the fourth be with you as Google has now updated their Android Distribution Numbers for this month. These numbers are updated by Google at roughly the start of every month for developers to look at so they can gen eralize what version of Android their potential install base is running and act upon it.
As of May 2nd, Android 6.0 Marshmallow now sits at 7.5%, jumping almost 3% since last month. I presume this is solely due to all the Marshmallow OTAs being released by BlackBerry, Samsung and Sony. Lollipop and KitKat continue to decline steadily as they now sit at 35.6% and 32.5% down by 0.2% and 0.9% respectively.
The story doesn’t change for all the other versions too, with the only exception being Android 2.2 Froyo which remains at 0.1%
