Google Music V3 and Books Being Pushed to Canada? (Updated)
Owning a Samsung Nexus S with stock OS 2.3.4 I have access to Google Books and Google Voice. Google Books works but when I click on “Get Books” it tells me, “The latest Google eBooks are not available for sale in your location, yet…” Which is to be expected, this is Canada after all. As many have heard already, Google is pushing out their Google Music beta V3.0.1 right now to the US. We are able to grab the US APK and install it ourselves, but without the cloud sync it’s just a UI upgrade for Canadians at the moment. Google Voice is also present, but of course not for Canadians yet either.
To my surprise, I opened up my Android market today on the way home and found this.
I clicked on the Google Music update and it shifted over to the next page with all the details and download information, it was V3.0.1. I didn’t download it right away, I decided to check out the Google Books app before updating everything. When clicking on Google Books I got the error “The requested item could not be found” so I tried Google Music and got the same thing. I was able to enter the first time, but got locked out the 2nd time around. Is this Google in the process of pushing these apps for Canadian use? Or a market mishap? Tell me what you think.
Update #1: Just downloaded Google Music V3.0.1 from the Canadian Android market. I would imagine the server is just getting pounded with downloads at the moment and thats why sometimes it’s not working. Keep trying ^_^
Still trying to get Google Books to update.
Update #2: Managed to get my Google Music and Books updated to their latest version via the Canadian Android Market, running stock OS 2.3.4 Nexus S. Thanks to Imhotep who suggested doing a long press on the item that has an available update and selecting the update option from the box that appears. All credit and thanks for Imhotep for this update.
