The OnePlus X Is Official
As expected, OnePlus announced their new budget device today, the OnePlus X. There wasn’t really too much new to learn about the device as it had made its way through the rumour mills more than a few times but lets take a look at the spec sheet anyway:
- 5″ 1080p AMOLED Display
- 2.3 GHz Quad-Core Snapdragon 801 Processor
- 3GB RAM
- 16 GB Expandable Storage
- 13MP Camera
- 8MP Front Facing Camera
- 2525 mAh Battery
- Dual-SIM Support
The specs are pretty decent for a budget device but it does lack some of the more “premium” features such as a fingerprint reader and USB Type-C port. And like its sibling, the OnePlus 2, the OnePlus X lacks NFC, quick charge, and wireless charging.
In terms of design, the OnePlus X is a pretty far departure from the other OnePlus devices. Despite being the budget option, I’d say that the OnePlus X probably carriers the most premium look of the three devices. It features a beautiful brushed aluminum metal frame with chamfered edges that is sandwiched between the display on the front and either glass or ceramic on the back. Given the new material options on the back, the back is non removable but OnePlus is still bringing the customizability in the form of textured cases.
In terms of pricing, the OnePlus X will come in at a pretty decent $329. Yeah, it’s a tad high for a budget device but our dollar is still pretty bad. For comparison sake, thee US pricing is a pretty sweet $249. The device will begin selling on November 5th but sadly OnePlus has implemented the invite system once again. So if you’re hoping to grab this device you’ll want to head over to their site asap to get your name on the list.
