Samsung Exynos 5 DOES Support LTE

If you’re planning on buying a Galaxy S IV you may have been disappointed to hear that the version coming to Canada will not feature Samsung’s home brewed  Octo-Core Exynos chip.  Initially, many thought that the decision to switch was related to LTE compatibility as the Exynos chip was not thought to properly support LTE.  In fact, this was the reason that Samsung made two variants of the Galaxy S III.

However, according to a recent tweet by SamsungExynos, the new Octo-Core Exynos chip does indeed support LTE.  In fact, it supports all 20 LTE bands worldwide.  So why the choice to go with two different processors?  Well it seems that Samsung thought they would have too hard a time putting together enough Exynos chips for all of the S IV’s they intend to sell.

The other reason that I’ve heard floating around  is that the Snapdragon chip is more energy efficient when it comes to using LTE.  While this may be true, the Exynos chip as a whole is supposed to be more energy efficient thanks to the four low powered cores that will be handling the majority of the processes.

Regardless the reason, I’d still prefer the octo-chip and the Note III should be getting it so I’ll likely hold out till then!  What do you guys think?  Is the switch a big deal to you?
