Motorola Has Plans To Take Moto Maker To The Next Level
When we first heard about Moto Maker way way back, there were rumours that things like screen size, battery size, internal memory, and processors would all be customizable. That, of course, didn’t come to fruition…or at least not yet. In the same interview where Motorola CEO, Dennis Woodside, hinted at a $50 smartphone, he also gave a glimpse as to what Moto Maker could eventually evolve into.
“On the more premium side we’re pushing more customisation…Today you have colours and beginning of materials but you don’t have screen size and you don’t have functionality and we’re going to bring all that in in the next year or so.”
If or when Motorola brings this sort of customization to market, the game will officially be changed. Think about it for a second. Pick you screen size, pick your battery size, pick your colours, pick you processor… While not everyone out there will want to (or need to) have a customized phone, I believe that it will generate a lot of interest and that that intrigue and interest will in turn cause the other manufacturers to consider (at the very least) offering something similar. The mobile landscape could forever be changed from then on.
We’ll have to wait and see exactly what Motorola can offer in terms of a customized phones but count me as one who’s super excited at the possibilities!
