Sony Jelly Bean Update Rolling Out to Xperia P, Go and E

Which phones, and when
The first group was the Xperia P, Go and E, with the rollout ramping up over that month and the next. The second group, the Xperia S, SL, Ion and Acro S, was next in line from the end of May. For Canadians, the Go was available on Fido, and the Xperia S and Ion had launched on Rogers some time earlier. The writer praised Sony for being more open about update timing.
What the update added
- Media apps. New versions of the WALKMAN, Album and Movies apps.
- Battery STAMINA Mode. A customizable mode that shuts down draining apps when the screen is off and restarts them when it is on again.
- App tray. Easier sorting, with press and hold to move an app, add it to the desktop or drop it on another to make a folder, plus a new search function.
- Home screen. Up to seven panes, widgets that resize on their own and actionable notifications.
- Google Now. Information offered at the right time, based on Google search and your profile.
Important notes
In some cases, particularly for the Xperia Go, the upgrade was available only through PC Companion or Bridge for Mac because of the size of the software package. Those users received an in-phone notification only if they were running Ice Cream Sandwich. Sony said it would publish official details on its own blog.
