HTC One KitKat Update Has Begun To Roll Out To Unlocked And Developer Editions Devices

HTC One KitKat

As previously reported, HTC is aiming to have all of their HTC One units upgrade to Android 4.4 KitKat by the end of January and it looks like they’re on schedule, or maybe even a little ahead of schedule!   The Google Play Edition phones started to get their updates a few days ago and according to a tweet by HTC USA, the Unlocked and Developer Edition phones are now getting the wonderful chocolate treat.

Unlike the Google Play Edition devices, these devices are getting Android 4.4 with the Sense 5.5 customizations.  While that may not seem like a big deal, it does mean that an official update for carrier locked devices should be close.  The software rolling out to these unlocked and developer edition devices should essentially be the same thing we receive via the carriers in the near future.  Hopefully (fingers crossed), HTC has already released the software to the carriers and the build is now undergoing carrier testing.
