Android 4.2 Rolling Out To Some Galaxy Nexus And Nexus 7 Devices

Carrying on with the Nexus day news is a great announcement for people already carrying Nexus devices.  Reports are coming in across the web that both the Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus 7 are getting Android 4.2 OTA.  I’ve been checking my devices (in addition to refreshing the Google Play site) but I haven’t seen anything yet.  But, according to some tips on MobileSyrup, Canadians are receiving the OTA as well so you might want to check your phone to see if there isn’t a tasty little surprise waiting for you.

If you’re wondering what kind of little treats you get in Android 4.2 you can head here to check out some of the the new features.  Some of the cool new features are new Google Now cards, Photo-Sphere, and Gesture typing.  I’ve been testing out the new keyboard and I have to say I’m quite impressed with their Swype style integration.  I’ve always been a Swype user, but this new keyboard may have me finally switching my go-to keyboard.

One last thing, if you’re impatient and want to get the update right now you can head over to XDA with some instructions on getting Android 4.2 on your Galaxy Nexus or Nexus 7.  While it’s relatively safe, you always run a risk when flashing new firmware.  I take no responsibility for what may happen :) .

If you’re running 4.2, let us know what you think about it.  What’s great?  What could have been improved.  If I don’t get a OTA in the next little while I might just force the update and I’ll write about the experience once I’ve had some time with it.
