HTC Desire Gingerbread Release is Almost Here

Last week HTC and Telus released the 2.3.3 Gingerbread release for the HTC Desire HD. Although the update was very anticipated, it was not quite what the Desire HD users were expecting. No new Sense widgets, same HTC white keyboard, and with only very minor UI tweaks.

Shortly after HTC releases this statement:

Hi all- We’re excited to share that we are testing our build of Gingerbread for HTC Desire and will start doing quality assurance for it this week. When we have an update on availability we’ll post another announcement. Thanks for your support!

Rumours around the net indicate that HTC Sense could be slimmed down, or removed completely due to limited rom space. I personally think that’s a bunch of bologna, due to the fact that the Sense UI is the iconic look of all HTC Sense phones. Not to mention on the back of the HTC Desire it says “With HTC Sense”. I could see them cutting less popular widgets, or even removing a little of the bloatware, but not the entire Sense UI.

Lets assume these rumours are true and they do remove Sense from HTC Desire, how much hate mail would you send?
